trailer1There has been a story running on local Central Florida news outlets about a local scout troop who had their equipment trailer stolen.

Scout troop seeks help replacing equipment after trailer full of gear stolen in Holladay

What is sad and disconcerting is that this is only the latest in a rash of thefts all over the country of trailers belonging to scout troops.

One of the reasons these thefts are so common is that, unlike automobiles, it is easy to steal these kinds of trailers and sell them.

As with automobiles, utility trailers, for the most part are titled vehicles with vin or serial numbers attached to the frame and bodies for identification.

Where the problem arises that makes these vehicle easy to sell is that they can be registered in some states without a title. One can either claim it is a home made trailer or simply register it without having to produce the title when registering it. In the State of Florida, for example, utility trailers with a gross weight of less than 2000 pounds can be licensed without a title. All that is needed is a bill of sale.

gpsOne thing that would be advisable to scout troops is to install a gps tracker on the trailer. This would allow for tracking the trailer in the event it is stolen. These devices are inexpensive and can be hidden anywhere on the trailer.

It is hard to comprehend that someone would steal from the scouts but one has to remember that a thief has no morals to be stealing something that a lot of people worked hard to obtain and that, in most cases, their income depends on these trailers and the equipment transported on them.

williamsBrian Williams will be covering the Iowa caucuses Monday, Feb 1, 2016.

When I posted this one line tweet, the reaction was immediate. “More lies” was one of the first retweets of the post.

Mr Williams is taking an enormous risk. Political campaigns can get even the most respected anchor into hot water. Because of his past mistakes, Brian Williams will be watched closely, not only by the general public, but by the strong minded supporters of each and every candidate in this very unusual presidential race.

It will be an easy area for a misstatement or mistake to be made. The first time Brian Williams makes a mistake, it will be magnified many fold and much more intensely than would be the case with any other news personality.

The uproar that may come about with Brian William’s return to the news desk will be as intense as any having to do with the individual candidates and will go far to determine if he has a new place in news media or if this is the start of his downfall and exit from national news.

lifeboobooMistakes happen. I am the first to admit that I make a lot of them. That said, I am a bit surprised that someone at this huge media outlet did not catch this rather obvious one before posting it on the internet.

Not only did Life get the year wrong but it had the year posted well after Hitler’s death and after World War 2 ended.

This does bring up an interesting point, however. There are a lot of mistakes on the internet made by a lot of people and by mainstream media outlets. The problem is that most of the mistakes remain either uncorrected or believed by the public at large that are unaware the mistakes were made.

The danger therein lies with the damage that is done again and again when these uncorrected mistakes get repeated time and again on the internet.

The next time you read something on the internet about someone or something, always maintain a bit of skepticism about what you are viewing and consider the source and whatever bias you may have toward the subject.

gynnaThere has been a story circulating on social media over the past day or so of a 16 year old girl who died in prison under questionable circumstances. This is not the first time this has happened.

gyjailWhat makes the story of unusual is that nobody in the mainstream press or political circles is talking about it.

I did a google search and did not find one single media source, be it National,  state or even local who are attempting to get a complete answer as to how or why this young lady died in jail.

whyWhat I found when I did the search is that the only source of information for Gynnya at the moment seems to be exclusively through the social media community.

There is a groundswell of anger and concern as the cause of the death of Gyanna McMillon remains a mystery.

Will the mainstream media start to cover this story?

Only time will tell.

In the mean time, it is left to those of us in the social media community to seek the truth.

gunIt is not even 3 days into the new year and 2016 is off to a violent start. It was not even two hours into the new year when reports of shootings started to be reported.

At the stroke of midnight, Two Florida children were injured and a police car was damaged when celebration got out of hand.

npreserve.jpgAnother strange event to start of the new year is the current occupation of a  Government nature preserve that is trending on Twitter and elsewhere

As usual, this event has the country deeply divided as people on social media take different sides regarding the reason for the take over of the property in Oregon.

Things are flaring up in Saudi Arabia and Iran over mass executions, one of which included a Shiite cleric.

These are  just a sample of how things have started off quite literally with a bang as shootings have been rampant since Jan 01,2016.

Take cover, folks.

Sometime after midnight tonight, Jan, 01, 2016, I will open up the new blog and reopen my other Twitter account to the public. It will be at that time that the format of the new blog and other websites will be disclosed.

This blog will remain active. The subjects I post here will be different than the primary subjects of the other blog.

I will post here both links to the new blog and websites as well as my thoughts on subjects I am interested as the year 2016 progresses.

Until then, I wish everyone a happy new year.

Late in 2006 I began a project that I hoped would have made a difference in how people interacted on true crime social media. I also had hopes that people could put their egos aside and come together for the common good.

It turned out to be a monumental waste of time. It became quite clear that most of those on true crime blogs, forums and other kinds of internet sites cared more for themselves than the plight of the missing and abused children that were making the headlines for the past decade.

There has been and still is a jockeying for power and attention among the owners of a number of social media sites. They go to the extremes in their quest for power destroying anyone who gets in their way.

The abuse doled out by these people is more horrific and intense than any outsider could ever imagine.

While it is true that there are trolls and abusers throughout the internet, those in the true crime sector take abuse to the extreme.

Because of these abuses, people are abandoning this sector of social media and are going elsewhere. Some are returning to mainstream media sources and others are moving away from true crime altogether.

For decades I used to deal with people who stood behind their word. When given trust, they demonstrated that trust.

This is not true in true crime social media. This segment of the internet is full of back stabbers, trolls, haters and abusers.

Service providers such as Twitter, WordPress, Facebook and so forth show little concern about dealing with the abusers. Trolls and haters generate revenue and lots of it. They use excuses such as freedom of speech and third party providers.

Occasionally providers such as Twitter send out announcements and press releases saying that they are taking steps to clamp down on the abusers.

Their efforts have done absolutely nothing to stem the abuses. If anything Twitter has made it much harder to deal with the abusers. The Twitter block option is useless. The abusers can still spam people who are following or are the followers of the targets of their abuse.

The abusers use outside sources to create their disgusting and demeaning content and then post links to it to avoid any action that would result in the account being suspended for rules violations.

Many people have had the same problems with haters and abusers and have found the process of trying to get rid of them frustrating.

I am one of them. I am surrendering. I am throwing in the towel.

True crime social media is theirs for the taking. The trolls and haters have ruined it for everyone so now they are free to play in their own sewage.

2016 is the year of new hope and new beginnings.

See you there
